Here's a video of Hard Pack SC's Orange Crush 97. You can see my old P210E (right next to Dean's Jet/GP208 and behind Mark Ito's Lucky Strike street racer) at 1:49. Watching this brings back a lot of memories.

Oh Wow... I was there too. I didn't see myself in the vid, but my blue TV is in the background @ 1:50. It's funny to see all the mods dressed up. I remember that day as the picture perfect Southern California day and there they are....... in suits and parkas. I'd forgotten about the Vespa getting towed away, but I may have been off eating something. Lots of familier faces, but everyone was so skinny then. That was a long weekend. We (Secret Society) rode up from San Diego that day, rode out to Adams cart track in Riverside the next day and rode home from there. Care free times....

Kings Classic 1998 - San Francisco

I rode up from Los Angeles on my TV200 with Dean Suinn, who had just completed the engine rebuild the previous night. Dean was on his SX190, both of us on fresh rebuilds. We took the Pacific Coast Highway (US #1). It took 2 days. At the end of the first day we caught up with a group who had left earlier. We slept that night in a San Louis Obispo motel room full of scooterists. There was barely any room on the floor. Then, with a larger group, we headed north through Big Sur. If you haven't ridden up or down the PCH through Big Sur, you're really missing something. Our rest stops were few as we were trying to make good time, but I was getting very tired, almost nodding out at times, as I was jet lagged from my 5 week trip to England and Ireland for Euro Lambretta. I had just returned days earlier. In Big Sur, a younger moddy kid went down on his Vespa after some asshole in a BMW yuppie car overtook him. He wasn't an experienced rider and he panicked. He was riding ahead of me by maybe 20 or 30 meters. He got into a wobble that worsened really quickly and then was sliding along on the tarmac, sparks flying from his Vespa (a 150 Super, if I recall). It was on a left bend on the 4 lane highway, with the beautiful, blue Pacific below the cliffs on our left and steep walled mountains on our right. I had to dodge the kid and his scooter while making sure I didn't take anyone out next to or behind me. The kid was unhurt beyond some road rash and we loaded his scooter into the support van that was our escort since San Louis Obispo. I was more alert after that!

My TV200, nearly run in on the long ride up to SF, was running flawlessly if not quietly with a brand new RS Tuning clubman. Dean's 190 had some problems, as he had spent most of his time working on my bike while neglecting his. Mostly he was having stator problems, and had to work a few times in the dark, but my TV200's head lamp was really bright and made a decent work light.

We couldn't take the PCH into San Francisco, so we rode the freeways into the city. We rode to our motel, where nearly all the SoCal people were staying. The weekend is rather a blur to me now, but I think we rode to Dylan's Pub for a meet and greet and a few pints and a night ride to somewhere else. Saturday was mostly a long rideout. I remember feeling bad about my TV200 as Nyle, who had brought his Lambretta Superlight street racer, christened my Lambretta "the Pile" when he saw it in the motel parking lot. As I said, the weekend is mostly a blur in my memory, but that's not a problem now :) You may see me on a pasty white, all original and patina (rust) TV200. Or you may not, 'cause I haven't been able to.

Yeah, those were good scooter days. I used to work almost constantly, except when I could get away for rallies or give away enough shifts for a euro trip.
