Finally got my head around the electric starter after having a ton of little issues. Turns out 3rd time's a charm as I've machined and adapted at least three different starter configurations before settling on the final setup, which consisted of a modified Aprilia RS125 starter bendix with KTM 450 idler gear, a KTM 450 starter and one-off mag housing. The Aprilia RS125 flywheel and ring gear wear also modified to suit.

With the final piece of the puzzle now complete it's time to shake things down for a bit and then move on to detail and final assembly.

Not a whole lot going on, just working out a handful of kinks in preparation for the Rides of March here in California in a few weeks. Having put a few miles on the bike, one of the things that really bugged was the shifting. I never really cared for how far the gearshift traveled between first and fourth and with drop bars, it's even worse, so improving that has been the biggest goal as of late.

My solution was to fabricate the largest pulley i could fit under the headset and narrow the shift cross on the engine case. The results are a close-ratio set up (of sorts) with surprisingly easy effort. I figured that a fair bit of leverage would be loss due to the resulting ratio between the shift cross and the lever itself, but it seems to be pretty negligible. I machined a new adjuster block from scratch and incorporated an adjuster for the rearset brake as well, while taking care to ensure that the cables all end up nice and in line with the rod ends, etc. My last attempt suffered from misalignment issues, so this was important to the success of the overall design.
