earth lead changed all good.
continuity checked on plug cap, ht lead & coil...all good.
assume problem is in stator.
pulling it tomorrow night to have a look.

If it's the 4 pole stator make sure the tail light bulb is working. If I remember the brake light grounds through the ignition coil.

It does look a little bespoke! You could just disconnect everything but the coil and try that to for a spark.

Yeah think converting to electronic might be the way forward.

My series 2 had the original four pole electrics and although it was reliable, the lights were terrible. A faint orange glow at any speed other than flat out.

It didn't have a brake light either. Yours might have been the same, hence the extra bulb in the tail.

It's a strange one. I don't think it's original. Probably an after market pattern seat.

Carb removed & stripped last night. Looks like the MA19 BS7 carb from the design of the float.

Looks in good nick. Are these any good with a standard set up or is it worth upgrading with to a SH?
