Thank you very much Eden.
I updated it again today:
http://tv175.wordpress.com/wp-admin/pos ... ostpost=v2

Progressing slowly. It’s my first rebuild ever so bear with me.

I added the layshaft and the gear-selector. I noticed on my scooter restorations reciept that it says kickstart piston spring instead of gear selector spring that I clicked upon on their webpage.

I just went with my old original one anyway.

One question, I’ve changed my worn sliding dog with a new SIL one. It has 2 arm with a recess to aid pushing it over the 2 balls and spring on assembly.
Sounds fair but while I’m on firth gear position it looks as if the balls are going to pop out. Am I too nervous?

While shiming the gear box I realized I needed to push the layshaft a little more!

Before shimming the gearbox you should install the rear drum and tighten it. By that you make sure the layshaft is in correct place.

I'm not 100% sure but think that the kickstart spring can be used as gear selector spring. It's stiffer so the gearchange mechanism is a bit harder but it may help with jumping gears.

Yes, the rear drum was used to keep the layshaft in place.
Worked, ended up with a 2.2 shim!

Finally some more movement.
Last week I fitted the crank to the case.Went in easily.

Next up was the front and rear sprockets. First the sleeve wouldn't go on but with little grease it worked fine.
Tested everything and the chain gave me some thought and confusion.
I'll go without a bottom guide and only a up prated upper tensioner.
http://tv175.wordpress.com/2012/02/28/f ... -sprocket/

5-6mm wasn't easy obtainable. especially since the chain in some position moved more on the lower side than the tensioner side.
I think I've done good enough but I have difficulties to know whats right.

Today I rebuild the chain case and added the kick start pedal. It was a great deal dirty so I gave it a clean:

eventually I fitted it on and realised I couldn’t find the bolt in my collection of spares! Is it a M7? How long was it?

I did find a new shim and a small circlip with ‘tooths’ added to it do it holds the shim down. That was pure luck, they most have accidentally been added in a previous scooter restorations order.
New kickstop rubber too:

Now I've completed the piston and Cylinder installation.
The Mahle piston I've bought really has a bad finish and felt in the tightest.

After measurement I realized that my old Borgo Oversize probably was the best option. Even the rings were in within tolerances.

Next up is the stator and timing.

The plates had been soaked in gearbox oil for a couple of days. I also did have acces to the clutch spring holding tool. Made things easier.
My engine had the old clutch basket with a spline that fits into the gear cluster and uses a thimble to compress.

Looks like an SX200 kick start lever.

Does it? I never thought about it. It needed a bigger bolt (M8) than my other engine (SIL). Never compared the kickstarts though. is the SX200 longer? The engine is a TV175 Series 3 1962, the framenr indicates it's one of the first 1000 machines made.
