While building a couple of engines recently I got so annoyed by either parts that didn't fit or were extortionately expensive I decided to design and make my own that would technically improve on the current offerings and deliver the best economics for the solutions it provided.
Here are the pictures of the prototypes that were fitted last week. The production version will arrive end of March/early April and have an injection moulded shoe. Key to this design is the push up / pull down universal tensioning. The difference with this design is that the mounting plate is fixed and the shoe adjusts on slots with special fasteners and dowels. It isn't complicated, it is just sensible thinking to support counter sunk screws properly. The shoe fasteners are on the same centres so the OEM locking washer can be used to prevent the fasteners loosening.
Target retail price is £25 including VAT. Gran Turismo will be promoting this tensioner in conjunction with "The Chain Man" and IWIS chains so expect to see some very attractive offers for combined purchases. Either drop me or The Chain Man a line if you're interested.
Below are some pictures including combinations of 47/15 with 82 link, 47/18 with 82 link, 46/15 with 80 link and 46/18 with 82 link.

Like it previously used 1 from jockeys which slipped on the fixings & snapped the Conrod. Maybe just unlucky but like this design. Still using the present 1 but with a long bolt through the casing so that it can't move.
