I changed to an MBD Race Tour layshaft.
If you see the photo, there is difference in distances compared to an original one.
If I was going to use the Innocenti one,my shimming would also be near to 1mm.

Yes,
apart from the extra shim on the top of the gear cluster,it is like fitting any other gearbox.

Have you been out on it yet and what's it like?Dimitrios_231 wrote:I finally fitted the stronger standard that I had.
After messing with some washers,I ended up shimming with a 1.93mm washer that I had spare.

It has the gearing that suits my engine.
I was using standard SX200 gearbox.
Engine is a Rapido 252.5 with TMX 35 and a 48mm Off Road exhaust from Ron Moss (modified later to a larger diameter tailpipe).
I had always problem with 1st and 2nd gear. They were short.
3rd was fine on straight roads but on hills I had to rev it to keep the power band, most of the times I was changing to 2nd.
4th gear again on flat roads was fine.
One year ago I had tried a 16t front sprocket.
If the road was straight and flat everything was alright.
When I was touring on twisty hills,it was very difficult to ride, changing down to 1st gear was needing sometimes.
I fitted the standard V2 Cyclone gearbox.
1st and 2nd rev more,on hills the shorter 3rd can keep up pace,I like it.2nd doesn't have the acceleration of the standard SX200 gearbox but that's fine from me.
You can feel the close ratio spacing of the gears, something which gives good riding feeling.
I have only test it for one day,but the feeling is positive.
The only problem so far,is that I haven't get used of the spacing between the gears,at the gearchanger.
1st,neural and 2nd are fine, didn't feel any difference, but changing from 2nd to 3rd needs a smaller wrist twisting,
I'll learn it by use.
The space between 4th and 5th is very small and funny.
On long downhills I was changing 4th to 5th,5th to 4th and so on,just to get familiar with it.
On my initial question about the selector spring,I highly recommend to use an UPRATED spring.
I used a new standard one that I found, too easy for the hand, with the MB uprated spring that I was using,I could feel better when the gears had engaged.I'll change it back, when I find the time.
I forgot to add that at the end, I used a 1.8mm shim for the gearbox,
this is irrelavant because every setup is different.
My only advice to anyone who tries to fit the gearbox,is to take time and be patient,
when trying to bolt down the endplate.
The combination of new gear cluster with a new 6004 bearing, needs a lot of tenderness,
I didn't use lubricant

Today I fitted the uprated spring,
I also fitted the gearchanger,
much better feeling now,
the gearchanger helps a lot to check what gear is enganged.
Previously with the standard gearchanger,it was getting confusing sometimes.
