My latest barn(ish) finds

The blue one had been sitting for last 20 yrs in a garage. There was rattle can respray at some point so I'll elbow grease that off. Crack in the headset, looks from transporting with hand grip tie downs, but otherwise it's complete and not seized. About 5,000 miles on the clock

I'm picking it up this weekend, about 1,200 GBP in your currency (I'm in Canada).

It's my project for next winter. I'll post a pic next spring when it's done.

Not wanting to be too much of a dick about it, my last winters project was a S3 tv175 I paid about 1,000 GBP for. I'm going to register it this week. It was a very early scootrs import. The most shocking thing in there was the paper gasket under the endplate LoL. The rest of the issues was caused by years of hard riding with no maintenance here, then leaving it outside uncovered through a bunch of Canadian winters. Anyway, all the fuckery has been undone now.

The low prices are a reflection of the state
Of the scooter scene in Canada. The relatively small number of us that can do our own wrenching are getting older, have families, and dont have free time. If there is a young person interested in trying a vintage scooter, they have zero technical ability. We have one licensed mechanic that will work on a vintage vespa in a city of 4M, and none for lambretta. So no one wants to buy a project. A ready to drive Vespa P200 takes months to sell at 1,000 GBP and a project of any type doesn't sell. My winter project from 2 years ago was an Li150 I got for free.

The only exception is if it's a desirable model, the scooting community is selling to itself and people are buying the scooter they always wanted. A GS160 just sold for about 1200 GBP (I found it and passed it along to a friend).

I'd gladly pay more for these as the price of having a more vibrant local scooter scene.

Buy enough to fill a container David, ship them over here to Blighty, and make yourself a killing!👍

Picked it up today. Came with a load of body pieces off a jet200. It's in pretty good shape considering it was last on the road in '79.Image

A nice find Dave. It looks okay. Where abouts in Canada are you?

Interesting points about the market over there. A guy local to me just advertised a Spanish Li 150 which he'd imported from Canada. Sold it at around $3k AUD which is pretty cheap as there aren't many non Indian scoots come up for sale down here. It was a project, but looked ok and personally I have a soft spot for Serveta. Just wondering how the market overall is moving. In the UK prices seem to be steady. As always the most desirable models seem to go for a premium

And then again sometimes an oddball pops up. A scooter came up for sale locally advertised as SX 200. But on the pics it looked like a bitsa. It was actually a TV 200 (or GT 200 in UK terms). At $6k AUD, I thought it was a great buy even though it had been a bit bastardised. Probably needed about $3k to $4k spending on it, Sadly I didn't have the coin

Here it is. Last ran 21 years ago. Fired first kick. New crank, cylinder, stator etc. I have the correct bench seat which will go on, as well as the rest of the body work. The scooter had fallen over at some point. The floor cross piece is bent a bit. Headset bottom in a donor from a servetta. Original is cracked. Drives really nice.

Once covid is passed will sell it, next owner can drive a rusty scooter or this is definitely worth a full body restoration.
