Re: Blown exhaust gasket

I seem to remember that the solid copper gaskets should be heated until cherry red and then allowed to cool to anneal them. Then linish both faces of the gasket on some wet 'n dry fixed to a piece of glass. Also linish the gasket face of the U bend so that all surfaces are completely flat. A smear ...

Re: Blown exhaust gasket

Every exhaust I've set up I've surfaced the flange or at least checked before installed.

Once the exhaust has been used the flange will bend. It's a flawed design, really should have 3 or 4 mounting points (MDB RT style)

Re: Can't move crank from driveside bearing

I agree with Lopez here. Have always threadded an old sprocket bolt in to the crank and just tapped it out of the bearing. Don't wang on it, just steady taps and I've never had one not come loose and don't let it fall out of the case. Always replace the bearing since the race isn't supported when ta...

Re: Exhaust decoke

Call around to local radiator and machine shops, ask if they have or know who has a hot tank. Heated carbolic acid which works great to clean out coked up exhausts (and paint, powder coating also).

Re: Intermittent when running

Sounds like 95 was too big of a jump. They call it a main jet because it affects everything. This is one of the reasons I don't think dyno's are the end all to tuning. They are a great resource to get that max HP out of a motor but that is under ideal conditions (unless the tuner understands road vs...

Re: bgm/mb clubman exhaust

Just got these back today Ceramic coated. $75 each Where was that done? Do you know if they accept used exhausts that have been sanded down to bare metal as well...? Cheers Victor I have a shop local to me in the US that does the work. Typically with used exhausts I have them hot tanked first to re...

Re: center stand spring.

Never seen a shorter spring for the center stand. What usually happens is the stand bolts have gotten loose or the brackets are worn out and are allowing play in the stand.

It's a Lambretta and will shake its self apart unless you use locking hardware.
