Which donor bike?

If one had a free choice which is the best base scooter for a urban/touring scooter restoration. I know they can more or less all be restored to whatever but some might have better gearbox and or ratios, better ignition systems etc. I ask because I am starting to look and while I am sure it will end...

Re: How to clean up low revs???

In my formative years 0-1/8 would be pilot jet, 1/8 - 1/4 would be throttle cut away. But after all that time I'm back to primary school.
Is the idle set correctly?

Re: Stupid Jokes

I got a hand job from a blind girl last night. She said "You have the biggest dick i've ever put my hands on." I replied "Nah, you're just pulling my leg." --------------------------- We went to a Thunderbird's themed fancy dress party, I went the whole hog, had the hair dyed, an...

Re: Not really a problem but a question

Been playing with exhausts and all the time the starting from cold has been poor. Just put a BGM Clubman on and by chance forgot to turn off the petrol, result starts first kick , tried each day for a few days. For sanity's sake tried turning off the petrol and left it a couple of days , back to se...

Re: How long to run a new piston and rings?

For Motorbikes there is a whole series of articles about high load short period runs, with cool down in between, for break-in. Apparently the first 20 mins of running, or less, is the key. The theory being that high combustion pressure is required to force the rings against the cylinder wall so they...

Re: What are the pros and cons of cast iron vs. aluminium ba

^ I'm more of a Last of the Summer Wine man! Aluminium has better heat dissipation qualities than cast iron so it makes sense for smaller engines which produce more power. Which is the way cars are going now. Add this to advances in casting where now the ports in a cast head are almost perfect from ...

Re: Lambretta legshield repair

The barn job I looked at had corroded edges to the leg shields. If you look at new beading you will see that the edge is not hugely shaped. I think I would experiment with glue. Malaysia is not so different from Thailand and in truth any decent car panel beater will be able to quickly recreate a rad...

Re: Egt temps

 I was thinking Avanti head for my build, because of high ambient temp. and long 3 min traffic lights. But also advised to use long finned flywheel (Indian) and cowling with large opening (unsure off what)

Re: Egt temps

why I said you have to get used to whats normal for your set up. Which I suppose is OK but given that Head temp does not give much guide to tuning, but will warn of the engine being "too hot". Then the point of a temp guage would be to alert the rider to something out of the ordinary whic...

Re: Exhaust brackets snapping - standard type expansions

Could it be the installation procedure. Two failures in a row seems unusual?

I say this because i had a guy, not Lambretta , who claimed his exhaust was the wrong model. Because he bolted up the muffler first and then said the front pipe wouldn't fit.
