My Vijai Super has full DC setup with battery. The stator modification was done in the same way as you had done. Lamaddict, 5 coil stator is better. You don't need a regulator also. It only needs the appropriate wiring harness.
One question - Are you using a Lambretta GP DC type ignition switch with this setup? Else how do you cut-off battery while parking your scooter?

Sometime when I kick over my Lammy, it feels like there is a bit of a grind, only very briefly when the kickstart piston engages with the first gear, as I say it's very brief and then goes on to engage properly and starts her up. I have a 5Ah and a full DC setup including headlamps. Hid the battery in the under-seat tool box. Piaggio Ape rectifier unit charges the battery. If you don't wish to disturb the stator or existing wiring, any 4 pin Honda scooter rectifier would also do your job.

It starts up fine. It idles fine, It runs off from stand still great, runs good through the gears and behaves great for a good 20 m minutes or so. Then it starts acting up.
