Re: New Lambretta British Speed Record

The main issue on the day was the varying wind conditions, it kept changing all the time, and got worse (as in slowing us all down) as the afternoon progressed. I couldn't have done it without my helpers though, Pete Newbold and Paul Pries...

Re: So just who does want to go 100mph?

Stuart is absolutely correct. Its the old old story, the faster you go, the faster you want to go. The main thing that's in the back of your mind of course is ............'Will my 63/93 mph speed rated tyres take this punishment?' I think that a little expansion on this topic is also required here. ...

Re: Straight liner Gearbox

Lamaddict, Put your money into your engine, as in barrel - head - piston/tuning/ignition/ crank/clutch,....................... unless you've got plenty of it that is ................ Don't forget that plenty of quick runs have been done on 4 speed boxes. And of course when/if you develop a motor wit...

Re: Super Monza Hits 105.6 mph

A very impressive performance. As Tony says.................its tyre speed ratings that will be uppermost in your mind .............. At the risk of being provocative, there are likely other full bodied scoots that could go over the ton but its having the available space to achieve it. i.e. anybody ...

Re: Available Close Ratio 4 speed Gearboxes......

Dan, Hope that you do give it a go next season, because in 2013, apart from the Shootout (which was good), we have been lucky to see more than half a dozen scooters at other meetings - probably down to the current economic climate etc. Having been sprinting for 'a little while now'.....................

Fot those that don't know, don't do or don't like Facebook............and want to see what times/speeds were achieved and thence understand some of the commentary on here .................. All of the Shoot Out results are posted on the Straighliners pages on Facebook, and have been since just after...

Re: Cush Drive

It can happen to the best of us. It will feel like an engine seize, because if you stretch your mind, effectively it has 'seized the engine' - prevented it from turning over that is. As others have posted, make sure your splined 'drive assembly washer' as it is called on the Scooter Restorations web...

Looking good Shaun.
You might need a chest pad on the headset with that power!
