Buy a good top quality pull down top chain guide and if your going to use a bottom chain guide,use a standard GP200 guide (made for 18/47 wheels) SR sell them for £6.

Does the piston move in and out of the kickstart shaft without sticking and is the piston spring pushing the piston out far enough to engage first gear.

It's a well known problem with the GP as the kickstart it not adjustable. The cure involves removing the gearbox endplate and cutting the ramp part off. I've always found that halite gaskets in the MEC gasket sets are too thick.

Point taken Ollie. It didn't start doing it with the Jetex. I was running an old faithful original 22 and I've swapped between them as a way of taking some of the variables out of the equation. thanks, Does the sleeve knock out with a drift? if I took one from another case, would it be re-usable? found stickys book but cant find it shown :? The bush has to be knocked out using a drift after the case is heated in that area.Using one thats been knocked out of another case is a bad idea beca...

Ok stripped out the gearbox, rear hub off etc., etc. pulled the spline out and lo and behold... Two O rings. :evil: cant put my hand on sticky's book at the moment but Ive read on MBs that he has in the past used 3mm O rings. Whats the proper fix? It could be the chain hitting the end plate studs or layshaft bearing race,if the crown wheel shim is to thin or non existant.
