Re: SS240
Interesting, this might highlight a compatibility issue with Casa cranks and cases. The GT240's use an 18mm wrist pin in the piston. Please check that the Casa conrod has a 22mm diametre small end. If not you'll be restricted to kits with 16mm pins or replace the casa rod with a GT rod if they are d...

Re: Ring Peg Damage repair
Personally, I wouldn't contemplate re-engineering a ring peg. It is probably safer and more economic to buy a new piston. If the peg moved once it might certainly move again.

Re: Mitaka oversize pistons for GT186?
4-5mm is a very big gap the ring must be worn extremely thin. Can you post some pictures and measurements, it is worth checking the bore too. How many miles have you done on this piston?

Re: GT240 Build
I wouldn't be changing the main if it is fine on WOT. If the stutter is at a partial throttle opening and dropping the needle helps then I would suggest changing the needle to one with a different profile. For this you'll need to know the needle profiles and approximately what portion of throttle op...

Exactly.coaster wrote: But you don't HAVE to run a battery with a DC Wassel system Adam, The lights and horn will work just the same without a battery. I'm still running both of the wassels I bought several years ago with no issue.

Re: Help getting the GT186 compression right after last years issue!?
Hi Donnie, This step between exhaust port and piston is acceptable, it is typically 1mm. The change between 58 and 60mm stroke adds 1mm to the top of the cylinder (reducing the squish by 1mm, which you get back by adding a 0.9 - 1mm head gasket) and brings the piston 1mm lower than normal.
