I don't recall any concrete proof and I think the jury is still out, but, running mild steel tanks doesn't seem to raise the issues (real or not) of stainless tanks.

75 top might be overly optimistic, i'd be surprised if you got into the 70's......settle for low 60's and you won't be disappointed.

It's a possibility there's an issue with your rear shock and the frame is lower than it should be.....unfasten rear shock and you will be able to lift the frame higher giving more clearance in the carb' area.

One thing to consider if you do a lot of rallies/touring. If you have an all singing/dancing/bells and whistles ignition system......what happens if it does fail somewhere on the continent, miles from home ? with the cost of spares for an expensive system it's unlikely you will be carrying spares. And here starts the decline in values as the market sees in increase in the number up for sale. I think that's been said a few times before. Remember there are no more "traditional" scooters being made. This means, with accidents, thefts and an interest from abroad there are less scooters...
