.....If you look at the 9th item down you will see a new part No. for the GT200 cowling.....so this particular one must be different to the other series 3 cowls.......

not convinced they were zinked. All of the old ones in the spares drawer are brass and they came off old original bikes. Chris ........come on Chris get that `60`s head back on, we are talking Mods here!!.......don`t you remember back then if a bit of zinc plate got worn off and you could see brass...

I use a Black and Decker band file. Use the wide option and its a few minutes work- good finish as well Chris Been thinking about these. Is that a handy tool for the workshop? What's the wide option? ....get or use the 3" Bosch belt sander......you can hold the piston flat and square and turn ...

.....My `64 GT was brass, as were all on my mates bikes.......they were covered in zinc plating though.....as were the level and fill plugs on the gearbox....

Starts first time everytime and revs out in 4th at 8,000rpm ( rev counter fitted ), as for a drop in performance I can't say weather it has dropped or not but then it would have been at a steady slow rate What got me thinking is that it does rev higher than it has previously but chokes up a little ...

......in my own experiences of single cylinder two strokes or four stroke car engines it is false economy to fit new pistons in an old bore .......it can never be right.....in fact it is always worse because of the re-honing so clearances are on the piston slap side of things....with the single cyli...

......if anyone knows how you feel ...i do...as with my "ringbreaker" GT200 i had six rebores to run in at 900mls each time ...let alone the amount of ring changes to do at 200mls a go.....what with no speed cameras or cops in many cars....they were on the beat then....i was flat out every...

...........whatever one may think or do.......the shims have to be fitted either at the crankshaft or the small end.....not both......one end governs the other .... if there is no room left at the crank then put them at the top end.......IMO if the engine is stripped down and there is room at the cr...
