Re: What are the pros and cons of cast iron vs. aluminium ba
OT a bit and not related to my Lambretta kit question, but if we are talking mass production, the air cooled step-through "scooters" made in Asia by the millions have as a rule iron cylinders, almost exclusively. One would think that is aluminium is cheaper they would be aluminium. In con...

Re: What are the pros and cons of cast iron vs. aluminium ba
I had the same doubts at the time of choosing a 186cc kit. I finally bought a GT186. Most of the alloy kits I saw didn't even have oversized pistons available...and in a 2st, seizure is allways possible.

Re: Regulator/stator question
If yours is a half-way rectifier
,you'll never get a decent reading unless you connect a battery and check if the volts increase when you accelerate.

Re: RT195 or GT186?
Just to help you out, here are the port timings and different stock configurations that can be achieved with a standard totally unmodified GT186 barrel. Interestingly, you will see that if you increase the rod but not the stroke, the timings reduce. If you increase the stroke but not the rod the ti...

This is what I use. No risk of hitting in the wrong place. You can knock it inwards or outwards.

Re: Your gt 186 set ups
With "smooth" I meant a smaller conrod angle and less friction of the piston against the cylinder walls. If fitting a DT piston means reboring almost to the maximum I'll abandone the idea of fitting it and try to compensate the loss of primary compression with a full circle crank using a 6...

Re: Your gt 186 set ups
Rich,If I wanted to use a 115mm conrod and a 60mm stroke crank witha a DT 175 piston, does the piston need any modification? I see in the table you published that with this combination I barely wouldn´t change the port timming nor loose primary compression with the gain of a smoother engine thanks t...
