Re: Stiff crank
Same, but different. Had a crank built(indian web, rd rod, welded) with shims. When it was all put together the rod felt a hair tight, ie con rod would't drop to the bottom from vertical. Machinst said that's what you really want. After a summer of thrashing it up and down the East Coast, I took it a...

Re: ON THE ROAD REPAIR TIPS (VARIOUS)
Rode home all the way from the Orkney Islands( after visiting Doofa, Coasters aforementioned friend) like that once. That must have been a while ago if we are talking about the same guy (Brian?) I haven't seen (or heard) from him for a couple of years now, he comes and goes with the wind ;) Seen to...

Re: ON THE ROAD REPAIR TIPS (VARIOUS)
If you loose your exhaust stud nuts, take the nuts of your cable adjusters.
If you blow a drive side seal, put 2 stroke in the gearbox. Rode home all the way from the Orkney Islands( after visiting Doofa, Coasters aforementioned friend) like that once.

Re: Speedo Drive
Aren't there a pile of S1 front hubs sitting around because of the bad backing plate problem? Steal the speedo drives and remove the drive gear from the hub out of them, they're steel, just like the MB ones.....

Re: Who’s had one twist?
another thing how much room is left either side of the crank after its fitted Isn't that where the chamfering of the pin and outside of the pin hole would aid things? Not having my tig unit set up yet(can't afford the water cooler and pedal yet :( ) I can't speak form a welders experience, but when...

Re: Who’s had one twist?
It would seem to me welding the crank has to be the way to go. A little chamfer on the pin, a little chamfer on the pin hole so you have somwhere to drop a weld into makes it easier to weld up. Obviously true it before hand and then I would say clamp it tight so it can't go out of true while welding...
