I couldn't say anything with regards to the steel/petrol, but stainless is often polished using abrasives sometimes leading to abrasive materials going into the engine with the fuel. Also stainless is more susceptible to cracking with vibration

Oh I'd love to chippy! Trust me but dumping a ton of cash into my 25bhp p-range and having a 3 month old future scootergirl has put paid to that! :lol: Some very useful information given here- thanks!
