Re: Route planning
Yeah, ideally I'm looking for something where you can plan the whole route over several days all together, split into smaller daily rides (with google maps you'd need to do these individually) so that you I can work out daily distance, good places to stop etc. But still have the whole trip info avai...

Route planning
What Apps / websites is everyone using when planning routes?
I'm talking about a few days touring not google maps to get you to the seaside!!
I've got a few apps (Pirelli Diablo, Realrider, ibiker) but most of them just record the ride you're doing and don't let you plan a route

Re: Engine dying - what to check?
It seems to have been the crappy connections on the wiring from the stator. Has been fine since I redone them. Glasgow to Whitby and back with no problems, running sweet!
Cheers for all the advice.

Re: Engine dying - what to check?
Had the flywheel off today to check stator wires and everything looks ok. No isulation breakdown and wire continuity all ok. found a couple of crappy cable connections futher away from the stator as it goes into the junction box (bare wire twisted around each other then phase taped, white to the CDI...

Re: Engine dying - what to check?
The wiring does look a bit "tired"!!
I'll get the flywheel off tomorrow and have a look at the stator and wires and swing through it and the wires with a multimeter, I'll probably heat shrink all the wiring and replace the spade connectors just for good measure.

It's starting to look like that I think.bristolmod wrote:intermittent dry joint on the electrics...........somewhere. The best type of fault!!
Chris
I've just had the carb to bits and everything seems fine, a little bit dirty but not too bad. I'll try another carb just to rule that out though.

Re: Engine dying - what to check?
The air hole under your seat that can become blocked by carrying something, such as your waterproofs is a totally different hole, that hole controls the air going to your carb, the hole that I am talking about is a pinhole breather that is actually in the fuel cap. Yep I know the the hole you're on ab...

Re: Engine dying - what to check?
Cheers Paul, it is the same but I've not tried that so I'll give it a bash. There's nothing stored under the seat so the air hole (for the carb) is definately clear too........... I've just been to collect it from where I left it this morning, started first kick and died again after about 2 miles. (...

Re: Engine dying - what to check?
I've got another P2 that I can take the carb off, it's just a pain in the ass that it last for days with no snags then dies (normally on the way to work!).
Anyone else had anything similar?

Engine dying - what to check?
I've got a standard non-autolube P2 engine which has just died on me a few times in the last couple of weeks. First couple of times (one day last week) last it was just ticking over, waiting in traffic and waiting to turn at a junction and the last twice (this morning) has been when I've been riding...
