Re: Cyclone mk 3 f@@ked

I got a 5speed from royspeed way back aprox 1970 and it never broke and worked fine even though they are supposed to have been fragile. I had a Royspeed 225 ported cylinder, 24mm dellorto and Royspeed exhaust. Don't suppose it was all that powerful compared to modern engines, but is pulled well and ...

Re: porting/tuning newbie / guide to homebrew tune

I've had great results by scooping the transfers about 10mm into the cylinder walls, smoothing, slightly opening and flowing the transfer passages (make sure you don't go too far as you'll have to match the casings to the cylinder transfers) and setting the transfer timing 124d. Also if you widen th...

Re: advice needed please

I'm running a MEC 107/60 in my cast 230. I had to channel the case quite a lot to clear the big end.

Re: Any clues

Chiselspeeds dyno is quite conservative compared to some, so that's a decent result. I'm sure Scooterotica or Chiselspeed would be happy to check and reset youe jetting with the new pipe.

Re: Running In and Augusto 7000

Remember to give the engine a couple of blasts at full throttle/high revs early on or the rings will not seal properly and you'll get blow by.

Re: Piston woes....

On that particular engine a couple of combos that are likely to work well are AS266 with X2 needle or AV266 with X13 needle.

Re: Piston woes....

Then rag the X7 needle out and throw it away (as they have a weak spot right in the area you seized Is that not a bit of a generalisation? There must be 100's of Lammy's running on an x7 needle or have I missed something? Stew 100's of Lammys getting away with X7 needle because they are running ver...

Re: Piston woes....

That piston can be saved if the ting grooves are ok. Clean it up, use coarse emery in a crosshatch pattern on the seized areas below the rings to retain oil on the high spots, have the barrel honed lightly. Then rag the X7 needle out and throw it away (as they have a weak spot right in the area you ...

Re: Does size really matter....Carbs that is?

I've just changed from a 26mm PHBH to 30mm PHBH on my tuned 230cc iron barrel which is on a 42mm clubman at the moment. It's much faster on the 30 From about 3,000 rpm up it's got much more power, doesn't lose anything at the bottom end either. However I don't think going larger than 30mm would be o...
