Piston crown level?
After removing the exhaust to sort a different snag, I noticed that the top of the piston at BDC is still a touch proud of the exhaust port...by approx 1mm. The scoot has been running fine with the exception of a loose exhaust, when I built the engine I'm sure the piston was level with the port, but...

Re: Air leak ( I think)
Problem found, one of the exhaust nuts had worked loose. Ahem! All after removing the engine from the frame, setting up a leak test kit...did the leak test anyway. Everything sorted only leak was the exhaust stub.

Re: Air leak ( I think)
Cheers fellas, mag flange will be checked out too. The engines been sound for around 6 k miles, haven't touched her since I built it. I've ordered some packers of various thickness so will play about and get the transfers right. I'll try and make up the pressure test kit before I put a light in her ...

Air leak ( I think)
On the way back from MOT, scooter wouldnt return to idle as quickly as normal. The revs weren't running away, just sort of slowly pulsing if you get what I mean. Got her home, and checked her out found that the base gasket had been pushed out from underneath the cylinder and a fair bit of oil too. I...

Re: Dye Penetrant testing
Get the test done or get the gear and do it yourself, 1 tin of dye, 1 tin of cleaner and 1 tin of developer. Clean area with the cleaner, apply the dye, clean off the excess then cover in developer - wait and see if the dye is drawn back from the crack/ weld area into the developer. Easy enough to d...

Mikuni 35mm + power jet
I have a mikuni 35 fitted at present on an fettled TS1 set up, pretty happy with the running of it as it is set up quite rich. I was talking to a mate lately who mentioned that the lean spot in mid range on the mikuni's can be ironed out using a power jet. Is this true and what make/ size power jet ...

Does anyone know if Cyclone gearboxes are still for sale in the UK, and if so are the current versions reliable?

Re: Motorcycles
Triumph Daytona quick, reliable and boring! Its starts on the button gets you where and when you need to be - where's the fun in that? The Lambretta never lets me down, every time I approach it I get butterflies wondering whether it'll start and what will go wrong next

Re: Rotax 300 builld
Why don't you louvre the sides of the toolbox and the bottom too, the open door would probably turn out to be a real pain in the shins whilst riding if left open all the time. Unless you completely remove the door of course. Keep this up mate lovin it

Re: How to reduce vibration.....
MB sell brass throttle and gear change wheels for inside the head set, increasing the weight at the head set with these and handle bar weights will reduce the vibration, something to do with increasing the mass of the handle bars vrs the vibration transfered from the engine/ road. The bar end weight...
