Re: rattle in neutral and clutch

What the others said-check/change the ramp position.
How did you know it wouldn't go past the bump stop if it wasn't on the splines?

Re: mostly nonesense: stainless steel stuff

Cant pick the buggers up with a magnet :x and with fourteen side case washers to deal with, it can add a lot of time. Smallframe head nut washers can be a pain to put on with the motor still in if you can't use a magnet. Saw some cadmium plated stuff today at the platers, looked good. The man said y...

Re: rattle in neutral and clutch

Try taking the rubber kickstart bump stop out until then. It'll let the kickstart go up a hair and may solve the prob.

Re: Engine studs

Go to a hardware shop and get a long 6mm bolt and cut it to size. Or buy a lentgh of 6mm threaded rod and cut as many as you want.

Re: rattle in neutral and clutch

Quick tip.
When I'm putting a trans. together, I usally check shim clearance withouth the dowels or christmas tree fitted. Make taking it apart and puting it back together again a whloe lot quicker and easier.

Re: Strange noise coming from the kickstart shaft

Machineists bluing ink works well for that also. It's a little thinner. I usually just put the sidecase on with three or four nuts and turn it over with the kickstart when the motor is on the bench and check for rubbing. Saves a lot of time.

Re: Fork Link Bolt Removal

Do you lot have PB Blaster over there? It's an excellent de-siezer, loads better than WD40. Do not let it sit on white paint for more than a few seconds, it will get sucked into the paint and cannot be removed.
Drastic measures on that fork cutting and welding. Got a picture of the finished result?

Agreed. Can't pick the little buggers up with a magnet.
Back to the original question: Your studs aren't loose are they?
