Re: Early type layshaft question

They are a little heavy. Depends what you what your engine to do.. Nothing wrong with them. Weight can be a good thing.

Check where the panel front pin goes in. That's ground and those contact areas get dirty sometimes.

Re: Never seen this before?

Probably not a dot punch, might distort the piston. More like a drill bit. Nice little oil collector spot. Most just have the cross hatch in a smaller pattern.

Re: Gear oil vs two cycle mixing oil

Vespa's run straight 30w in the gearbox. So can Lambrettas, I reckon the chain gets a bit niosey with thin oil, but less drag. 30w can also successfully be used as two stroke, as can most oils if you shake the mix up enough:)

Re: Detonation, lean seizure, or....?

Was the water cooling up to snuff? Looks like a simple it got hot and seized. If it runs a thermostat in the cooling system, the thermostat might have given up. Timing, 24*, seems high.

Re: Italian GP200 Top Speed

^ Put the standard exhaust back in a, it could go quicker and near the Lambretta stated figure when they can out. My Tv175 flies. I've often wondered on a std motor if a clubman makes any difference at all. Yes, they make a lot of difference and not in a good way.. Loud and big isn't always better.

Re: Bad fuel disposal

To answer the original question-stick it in a container marked "weed killer" and use as such.

It's written into law in this state. The customer has to be offered the replaced parts.

Not expert by any means, but I would think that if a groove is machined, the gear would be very thin where you machine the groove, making it weak..
