Aero engines generally run 475 - 495 degrees C so yours sounds about right to me.

Answering the original question Two reasons for less advance these days . . firstly fuel, secondly if you use elctronic ignition there's less delay at high rpm. If you use an indian case the squish at least will be ok with a 60mm crank as the 1mm higher deck height compensates for the extra 1mm at the top of the stroke. Spaco 22mm carbs aren't big, aren't clever, and they don't work. A jetex is much better.
