Re: GT reed petals, how many kms before replacing?

Sorry for drip feeding questions. I'm in Canada so I don't have easy access to parts as I would like. Do you know if the petal has a part number that can be generically sourced from a racing parts shop?

Re: RE: Re: GT reed petals, how many kms before replacing?

If you double the petals up they last a long time I've just changed petals in my GT250 from new.. over 2 years ago, many 1000"s of miles, they hadn't broke, I just felt it was time for new ones. Did doubling the petals change the performance or flow in any way that would impact jetting? Thanks...

GT reed petals, how many kms before replacing?

Hey, I've got a GT200, 85% of my riding is in a city so pretty much constant changing of throttle. I'm curious what's the limit of the expected mileage I put can safely put on petals without fear of breaking, and then I can back off some for safety margin. If these are based on a cart, I'm guessing ...

Re: Tip for getting frozen engine case studs out.

Had not heard of spark erosion before. Something new to research. I reach for heat and freezing as the starting point as ALU heats 2x faster than steel causing different rates of expansion. Then hit the steel with cold to cause it to contract. If that doesn't break a rust bond you are seriously stuc...

Re: Tip for getting frozen engine case studs out.

They do work for sure but not always in the worst case. I once snapped a screw type extractor before. As it is harder than a bolt you can't drill it out. I ruined the part.

Re: Tip for getting frozen engine case studs out.

Wow. I had been fighting with this completely corroded plate for days. Screw heads mangled. Map gas under neath, inverted air duster on the heads, a tap on the impact driver and they backed immediately out. About 15 mins of work. My new favourite trick. Re: jet 200

If you want to keep it stock, a clubman pipe had the looks and is a performance boost for little money. And ask to have your squish checked. The clearance between the head and the piston. Simple adjustment that can find lost HP.

Tip for getting frozen engine case studs out.

Double nutting and heat was not working. But this did for 3/4 - heated case with yellow map gas - inverted a can of air duster and blew on the stud near the base. The propellant comes out cold enough to freeze flesh. This made a massive thermal difference - put penetrating oil on to let try and soak...
