Do you use it a lot? If it's your daily, and you're doing 50 or 60km a day, forking out for some sort of an off the shelf kit could pay for itself pretty quickly. Esp if you've already got a proper carb you could use. Riding something with a 20mil carb on... that's never going to be pleasant, if you...

For the cost of the reboring and a half decent Suzi piston, isn't there a more cost effective way of saving money on fuel?

Everyone that lives 'abroad' from where parts are lives with the price of postage.. You get used to it. It does make building a bike quite expensive.
Especially when the UK charges VAT for 'imports' of parts that are only going for a refurb. Yet doesn't refund when you get it gets sent back.

Get a metal dowel shaped and welded across the bottom of the panels, and up at the ends. It'll make them a lot stronger and stiffer.
