I personally love original paint scooters, I have a series 2 rustoration which i've owned and ridden long before the current trend, its just fun to own, I think if its original factory paint its something that should be saved, i'm not a fan of fake rust its not patina its fake sh#t ,but to each ther...

i had this with a jl3, changed gearing, carb , coils etc etc etc, fitted a bgm clubman and it pulls great in top, might not be your problem but mine would die a death in 4th,,

i like the bella , a bike engine would be perfect, that back shock set up is a strange looking affair..

ive owned a 79 200 , it was orange, anthing earlier than 78 id be suspect of too, ive seen a 75 and 76 for sale on ebay

my cast iron 240 was topping out at 70 with a jl3 , i fitted a very old pm i had to see it it would change , and it was way better through the gears and about 5 mph top end, i have since bought a franspeed race and it fly's ,, jl3 now fitted to my old cast iron 200 and its fine ,,horses for courses ...

its gotten softer , but not one finger as the original ad when i bought it, i have a 5 plate reedspeed with mb springs and the lth is about the same as that, not nearly as soft as a standard 4 plate though.
