Thank you chaps,much appreciated.Given me something to go at, I'll be honest freaked me out a bit when I saw it! I'll go through it all methodically as per your suggestions & if all else fails another stator plate. Thank you all for helping.

Timing feckery

Just done the winter overhaul on the engine,changed the barrel over,new rings etc.Engine back in the frame,checked the timing using the positive stop method ,line the stator up with the 2 marks on the flywheel and the white line in the pick up, got it to a guesstimate 17BTDC. Anyway fired up 3rd kic...

sorted :) Found 2 oddball clutch steels in my box of odds & sods (not a top plate!!) that was slightly thicker than 1.5mm ,just got it below the 2mm mark now on the gap.Normally try & get 1.5 mm gap, but reading camlam site up to 2mm is OK. Below off their site ". Next you need to fully...

Mixing clutch corks?

Fitted a new MB 47 tooth crown wheel,just put the clutch plates back in massive gap when the clutch is fully compressed with the clutch compressor.Changed it again to 1.5mm steels & a GP3mm top plate gap now at 2.09mm -readspeed 5 plate clutch.Is this too big a gap? Or would maybe putting a thic...

SX gearboxes are much harder on clutches than a GP. My Jet is fitted with a ReadSpeed 5 plate clutch and has dealt with a long stroke Mugello for several years.
