another thing to consider on this thread is the crankshafts themselves ,and how they are actually modified ! the mazz cranks for eg are just "slashed back " and yes in theory they do extend the inlet timing (by extending the closing time) but because of their shape they are still very rest...

just to add that the later the rotary inlet timing is closed ,the higher up in the rev range the power is made ...not always the best thing though as is often the case ..cranks cut that way can make a vespa to peaky !

lol, more like the other way around i reckon ! ...as only by increasing the inlet timing will it rev higher .. anything up to prob a max of 210 degrees can be used ,depending on use and gearing etc . whenever i work out the desired timing ,i always start from the opening time ...usually around the p...

the yellow and black vespa " the wasp " was my good old faithfull rally ..the green one i was doing wheelies on wasnt mine ..it was kamis ! ...the lammy in the piccys was one me and my mate sort of shared ...we went halves on it tbh and took turns on it ...that piccy was in scarborough 19...
