Re: Over heating
Now it's run in are you sure the jetting's right , plug chops/ dyno etc , also the timing is it correct ,could need retarding some more . Also could it have been a one off due to shite unleaded , do you use decent super unleaded or just whatever's cheapest at the supermarkets . Plug should be a B9E...

Re: Fitting a Kick Start Shaft
The Li, Sx & GP Italian series 3 measure 67mm to the circlip groove. GP Indian measures 65mm to the circlip groove. So trying to fit an Indian shaft into an Italian casing requires the inside of the Kickstart boss trimmed down by 2mm so the shaft protrudes enough to fit a 1mm shim & the star...

Just remember that most RB200 motors produce 24+bhp so a good big end bearing is required!

Re: Engine mounts
When I got the Biriani Bullet pre restoration, it had the same type engine mounts (from India obviously). They were fecked anyway so had to change them to the two/three hole type. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t69/dap149b/PunjabiPoppadum061.jpg I know that I and other guys back fill the narrow...

Re: How close should the fins be to the cowling
On an RB250 that my mate Richard runs his AF flywheel was about 12mm away from the fan cowl & this ran at 260-280'c riding 80+mph when we closed the gap to 1mm the temp dropped by 30'c! It now very rarely goes over 230-240'c, running at 80+mph & this has 32bhp @ 8,800rpm. So it will pay to c...

Dynojet Rolling Road - Jetting & Engine Diagnostics
I keep getting asked (Ian Frankland of Taffspeed) due to myself not advertising in the magazines these days! :D Are you still doing engine builds & dyno work & jetting on bikes & scooters? The answer is YES, I may of had a Triple Heart Bypass opperation which took me nearly 2 years to re...

Re: Engine casing for rb20 build
The casing you have is ok. Just change m6 exhaust mount studs to m8. The standard engine mounts are ok as the motor has very little vibration & produces 22+ bhp@ rear wheel with 30mm flat slide & JL Franspeed exhaust run the Li 125 gearbox with 17-46 primary drive 5 plate clutch set up copes...

Re: R1 shock length
Widestyle ~ Series 1 & 2 shock length = 315mm (33mm wide mount) Slimstyle ~ Series 3 ~ Li, TV, SX, GP shock lenth = 300mm (33mm wide mount) It was many years ago that Taffspeed had Rod Avon of AVO (UK) make our first Lambretta shock units with steel bodies. Early units were adjustable for length...

Re: profiling head, why, how..?
You need to use a Yamaha YFS200 Blaster 89-02 66mm Std Piston kit. Various prices on Ebay - just need to know the piston size normally standard comes as 65.95mm giving 0.05mm clearance (0.002") on a 66.0mm Bore. However I replate the RB20 Cylinder to 66.02mm so there is about 0.003" cleara...
