Re: Malossi 172 top end

Hi Andy. I'm not familiar with the BGM cylinder kit but if it needs a 135 main jet to run right, it's in a higher state of tune than a malossi 172. My 172 is on a standard T5 carb and with a scorpion exhaust it runs perfect with a 125 main. I think a 125 main jet is on the limit as regards flow from...

Re: Malossi 172 top end

It should be quicker. I've a feeling the bgm big box might not rev enough but has boosted your low down torque. If the scooter is reving out the same in 4th as in 3rd then the exhaust might be the problem. I think it'll pull a 22 tooth clutch with that set up which would give an extra 5% ish top spe...

Re: Electronic ignitions

Casatronic has been very reliable for me. Positives are reliability, easy starting, quality feel. Negatives are the flywheel holder could be stronger and in my case, brake light on at low revs means very poor headlight. led rear is essential!

Re: Wasted Tuning?

I've often wondered do a gas and liquid flow in the same way? Maybe traditional tuning makes a mistake by assuming they do? Matching openings and removing edges which obstruct a pathway definately helps a liquid flow along that pathway better. Smooth edges are good for liquid flow. I'd love to see a...

Re: Carburettor slide/Throttle linkeage connection

A slight bend of the hook part will stop it popping out. When finished just make sure the slide closes fully.

Re: Hidden not ridden

Not my bag but if the guy's a scooterist like the rest of us and wouldn't have a problem ferrying a brother down down to services/rally/ferry port then I say good on 'em! I wouldn't be too proud to load my broken scoot into the back.............but only if I thought it was 100% unfixable roadside.

Re: serveta stand

Liam, if you ever needed an excuse to visit your mother's home ground my brother and myself organise a scooter endurance event around April every year. It began as The Wild West 150. Supposed to have been The Wild West 175 this year but had to cancel due to the virus. Think about it for next year. I...

Re: serveta stand

Thank you Liam, Nick b and Rosscla for the help. In typical scooter shed fashion I have the stand brackets, spring and feet but no stand. Time for a bit of creative thinking. Thanks again.

serveta stand

In typical fashion I've started assembling a serveta lince that I stripped a few years ago to get painted and I can't find the stand. Is it a vespa stand, standard lambretta stand or do linces have a stand different to everything else? I seem to remember it was different to a series 3 but can't reme...

Re: PX125 Exhaust

Polini, gianelli and simonini are grand exhausts. If the sound is your main priority then you won’t be disappointed. Make sure to upjet the carb. Any of the big box type exhausts or a sito plus would be the best allrounders for your standard engine. Again, ask the supplier for carb settings to go wi...
