Re: A lesson learned.

Well done! Being methodical is what solved the problem. However, despite fitting Scootopia's excellent taps to two machines, I believe in stripping them first. There was no big issues with either, but one had a slightly kinked sealing face gasket - sorted with boiling water - but both had slight bur...

Is that because the earlier cams offer greater feel? Before I could afford a hydraulic brake (MSC) for racing, I ran a TV175 S2 drum with reverse pull & the later shoes & cam. It was really good but needed great care in the wet.

Re: GP head cowling

Dave Webster removed the baffle on a racer & promptly seized up @ the next race. He soon put the plate back.

I've made my own before now & used SBHS's into them to hold them in place.

Re: Not seen this before...any ideas??

I really have no idea of the purpose of the slots, but would suggest that they would not help if there are hot start issues, as there often is with these 'antiques designs' when using an air filter of any kind. If the intention was to induce turbulence, there's plenty enough with the round slides, s...

Re: Differences in kick start shafts

I've not experienced this problem of mismatched/remade parts, but having run an extended clutch with a chaincase packer, needed to extend the slot for the teeth to engage. However, as per previous advice from Northener, it's best to try & get the internal lever as close as possible to the hub si...

Re: Super Unleaded

I've been using the Super/Supreme Unleaded for some weeks now with no issues on a standard set up. I understand this fuel will remain E5 for a few more years until UN Agenda 21, now UN Agenda 2030 kicks in more with the fraudulent 'green/climate' agenda (expect an escalation of this), this is all p...

Re: Endplate shim

If there is an over large clearance, then the selector will be trying to drag the currently selected gear sideways with it, rather than it's ramps climbing up & over the sprung balls as it should.

Re: Endplate shim

Hi all, Lambretta series 3 standard set-up. What problem(s) may be caused if the endplate shim gap is too large? thanks. If you mean the large shim washer that fits into first gear, then that controls the total running clearance for the loose gears. That should be set @ 0.003 to 0.011" but IMH...

Re: Jetex SH2/22 Float Sticking?

The issue appears to be 'hot' starting & that is not unique to Lambrettas fitted with certain Dell'Orto carburettors or the replicas. Lambrettas with their fully enclosed bodywork have nowhere for the residual engine heat to go, so the carburettor is one area that soaks it up. The carburettor is...

Re: Li150 S3 Front Fork/Suspension question

Suspension & steering are so important as key elements to ensure your safety that, with respect, they should be your absolute priority. Please do not doubt that. It is the correct thing to ask for help, but whilst any doubts exist about the front end of your scooter, you really should not be rid...
