Re: tuning a dr kit
What a work of art! Am I looking at bridged exhaust ports? If I was the owner of DR I'd hire you on the spot!

Re: tuning a dr kit
Before any creativity I'd file the edges off all of the ports in the barrel, DR's have sharp edges! Also a quick hone to give 4thou clearance helps to stop piston seizure. Don't worry about the piston slap. BBQ painting the barrel black helps with cooling. 21 tooth clutch helps with top speed. Take ...

Re: new project
Nice work! I'm curious about the raised petrol tank, is it from a rally? Looks like it might take an extra bit of fuel over a px one.

Re: Basic advice needed
If your px125 can do 55mph, will start with the choke and doesn't need a bump start then its in decent condition! I'd say you've made a good purchase. They're maybe the most reliable manual geared scooter and the 80's ones are better built than anything from the 90's or 00's in my opinion. Any 2 str...

Re: There's Got To Be a Better Way.
I start like goldeneye by standing on the tyre to get it moving. This has always released the thin half of the rim from the tyre for me. Then I use wd40 between the tyre and remaining rim half, placing it into a bench vice with something inside the tyre like a wrench to stop the freed edge getting s...

Re: t5 172
If you modify the head as it says in the malossi booklet you need to use the gasket. I dremmelled the combustion edge at a 45 degree angle as per malossi instructions, used the head gasket provided and ran it flat out for the life of the first kit (4 years) but the compression was very high. I add 1...

Re: vespa t5 gearing
My 172 ran much better on a sito plus, standard exhaust or scorpion than the simonini. Not sure how the standard exhaust works with a reed but on my worn out rotary it flys!

Re: JL end can mounting
My brother uses classic austin mini bobbins. They seem to last longer than the rubber mount thing that comes with the pipe (look very similar though)and can be bought cheaply in any motor factor. Even Halfords have them in stock.

Re: T5 exhaust
I haven't tried the sip road but I'm really impressed with the leovince. I might just have a good 'un! It's pulling a 21tooth clutch as well which makes it even more impressive in my book. It's quiet, doesn't get in the way of any cable adjustment or spare wheel and I haven't had road clearance issu...
