Re: GT186 manifold - carb fouling engine mount
A friend has recently found the same with a 25mm PHBL, which is just touching the mount.

Re: 186 kits
If you like TS1 kits, the Imola is basically the same but for smallblocks. All depends what you want from it.

Re: Glasgow Lambretta
My experience of them has always been good so I'm surprised to hear that people have had issue. Hopefully they are still trading and will address any problems.

Re: Trying to get an understanding on ignition systems for GT186...
"I was hoping to get it to pull right through the rev range.", does it not do this now with your 24-16 range? It should do. If not, I'd start to question whether this is an ignition issue. I'd not get too worried about the specific '19 dbtdc' suggestion as all/any recommendation is only ev...

Re: Trying to get an understanding on ignition systems for GT186...
"24 degrees btdc at 2000 revs and retards back to approx 16 at full throttle", good / normal sort of setting for most road Lambrettas with variable ignitions. Keep an eye (and ear) on it for getting warm at low RPM and reject if you find that you need to. Otherwise, use it evaluate what yo...

Re: Trying to get an understanding on ignition systems for GT186...
I can't comment on the SIP temp range but my experience of EGT use suggests that the temps vary massively from bike to bike so better to figure out what is a safe/normal temp for your engine, then watch for unexpected rises.

Re: Trying to get an understanding on ignition systems for GT186...
What does the ignition retard to when strobe? You will probably find that ignition copes with burning off the charge at revs until 14 dbtdc or so but then struggles and feels rich or like it has hit that rev ceiling. I had one of my bikes dynoed and the rev limitation was not identified but I was co...
