Re: Ron Moss - Avanti TT3 - Cylinder Kit - Review & Test....

the negative point about the avanti kit being harder to kick over due to the low exhaust port doesnt really make sense either ..cos its not at all and why would it be because its about compression ratios . I think it is more a reflection on 'corrected' compression ratios being higher with low...

Re: Ron Moss - Avanti TT3 - Cylinder Kit - Review & Test....

It states power spread is narrow, I would have thought that would be a major disadvantage in a kit being sold as a touring kit? Looking at the dyno charts on rons website it would appear to have a very narrow powerband compared to say an RB225? What was it that Saxelby used to say about dynos in hi...

Re: Ron Moss - Avanti TT3 - Cylinder Kit - Review & Test....

I have read the review in scootering on the avanti kit... And now I am unsure about fitting my kit, as in my opinion the review states there are quite a few disadvantages ...so I going to wait on some more long term feedback on this cylinder kit... It should be noted though that many of the 'Cons' ...

Re: confused.com - what woukd you go for?

Just buy a cheap aftermarket speedo... easiest way to think that you are touching 80 and cruising at 65!

PS - I agree with above.

Re: A few questions/advice needed

GPM pistons are not good for anything more than a mild road tune and don't widen the exhaust port much or you will break rings. I managed to buy a job lot of these pistons many years ago and have done many, many thousands of miles on 175s and 225s fitted with these, however, the rings are no better ...

Re: ID this?

I like the fact that Frank tells of using a similar method of increasing transfer timing for his Red Devil sprinter, where he actually filled this profile into the crown of the Jap piston that he used. It is suggested in one of the well known 2-stroke tuning manuals that this method be used when det...

Re: ID this?

^... I've been a lurker on here for quite a while but there are enough people on here responding to questions and giving good advice (not that mine is always good!) so there was no real reason for me to do anything more than watch and appreciate what was being posted. It was Richard's original 6V st...

Re: ID this?

Dinamin pistons are quite common aftermarket pistons. This example has been reworked for increased transfer timing, inlet timing and additional oil retention... all old tuning tricks.

Re: Discussion on Electronic Stators

^... not that I know of. Just try to keep the folding/bending of the plates as uniform/regular as you can (using a large'ish flat tool for prising them down, then a suitable large flat tool for knocking them back up). If you lever them with skinny tools then you tend to put extra creases in the plat...
