Re: Lacking performance at top end

If it’s overheated previously and it now runs crisp with what seems like a bigger MJ than needed, it sounds like an air leak - maybe establish everything’s absolutely sealed and then see how it runs.
I find using carb cleaner to check/find leaks is super quick and efficient.

I’d be interested in seeing how they all actually compare on the gearing calculator..number of teeth etc? Same or different to Cyclone, MB and the Tino Satchi one that Robbo is selling ? I've just uploaded a fresh version of the Visualiser with both versions added and some additional tweaks. https:...

Any tried and trusted recommendations?

Re: Dave Webster

Awful news. Hope he's comfortable and gives it a bloody good fight. I can't really claim to have raced him though we shared the same track in the 80s, and his book was one of many I read cover to cover many times. It was good to see him at Donington a few years back, and he was as honest, funny and ...

Re: So,what caused this then??

Blow by on piston indicates worn piston/rings and so probably sloppy piston in bore. Sloppy piston likely to stress piston skirt as it rattles up and down the bore Skirt broke and lodged in port and locked top end solid. Conrod broke, scooter travelling at speed, clutch not pulled in and motor self ...

Whatever the cause, it'll be worth flushing that recently bought fuel out completely just in case.

Re: 42L2 T5 Conversion; Carb problem

Long shot... If you're using the standard carb, could a collar be machined that would allow you to fit a forward facing / horizontal Lambretta rubber elbow and breath sweet filter arrangement?
