many thanks for replies, the problem with mounting in this position is that the rear grill is open and the cdi/regulator would be visable, any other non drilling options?

hi guys
does anyone have any experience of welding (in this instance welding up small cracks), am considering buying a golfball horn embelisher but it has some damage and I`m wondering if its repairable

would that be the same electronics that are sold with razor sharp wire holes that short out wrecking the cdi????

recently rebuilt engine, it ran fine for 30 miles then died, ran briefly, then died again. I stripped the carb and it ran ok for a couple of miles then died again. The recieved wisdom, most recently repeated in Pete Davies`Lambretta bible is that the third version (the first non framebreather) was introduced in December 1958. this however is probably an over simplification, I have seen a 1959 road test of a LI 125 in which the photo`s clearly show the framebre...

yeah i had the same problem,the hole where the wires emerge from the back of the stator is razor sharp and cut through the red and yellow wires, unfortunately it knackered the cdi, so you might want to check that too, and we all thought electronics were maintainance free!

thanks guys, the points and condenser are brand new, how can you tell if a condenser is good?, how can you tell if the magnitism is good or poor and who could i send it to to get re-magnitised
