Re: Starting Problems

Thanks For the replies folks. There is no drain off on the bellows I have fitted. I’ll check for fuel in it when I get a chance and try starting with filter off. Anyone tried the tea strainer type that MB sell. I don’t want to have to cut holes in the side panel. I have a larger fuel tank so the fil...

Re: Starting Problems

Thanks Garry. The earth fixings were my first port of call and they all seem good. Also tried a new plug cap and plug. Not made any difference. Just strange that it starts no problem initially but there is a problem if I stop and try to restart when the engine is warm or has been run for a while. Ma...

Starting Problems

Since the rebuild of my Li150 I have been having intermittent starting problems. I have had the carb cleaned and a new air filter fittted. I was shown pictures of the crap that was removed from the carb so thought that would sort it. Also had an ignition key fitted to replace the kill switch. I don'...

Re: Trouble starting

Yes I know Fargos. There is also Magpie Mororcycles. Mick there is a Lambretta rider and enthusiast. I’ve had quite a bit of work done by him.

Re: Trouble starting

Garry, your right there is compression and fuel but no spark. I only mentioned the carb issue as it related to a previous post. I may still have the leak on the carb but not able to check it as I can’t get it running. My intention is to go over every connection tomorrow to hopefully put the fault ri...

Re: Trouble starting

I do have a copy of the Complete Spanners Manual and found it an excellent reference during the build. I never thought to look in it for anything on carbs. I'm sure it has a section and although it probably won't reference the Dellorto PHBH30 specifically I assume they are all pretty similar?

Re: Trouble starting

I'm sure I could get some help if I put the word out but would like to see if I can sort it myself first. I had the carb off yesterday, removed the float and checked the float needle. It looked OK. I did not try to adjust the float height as it says on the Eurocarb (Dellorto) website that they are n...

Re: Trouble starting

OK thanks Paul, I did not realise that. Would the stator need to be strobed even though I have not touched it. Would adding any new electrical components have an effect? I have read somewhere that if any electrics are changed or added it should be done? Would this be a symptom of it needing doing?

Re: Trouble starting

Garry, there is no coil as it has a 12v conversion. It has a MB CDI unit and MB regulator / rectifier both new. I have not done anything as far as engine goes, just dropped it out and refitted so not touched the stator only to rewire it back in to the CDI and regulator. I am thinking it may be an ea...

Re: Trouble starting

Still got the problem starting. Changed the plug cap and made no difference. Absolutely no spark at all. Could not get it to start at all today. Really strange as I have had it running two or three times. Just have to go through each connection systematically I guess. So frustrating when everything ...
