Couldn't you use a good paint remover such as nitromors?,Then wash the stuff off and polish the clean rim I am presuming that they are just painted and not powder coated. Out of all the options available Indian chromed from beedspeed would probably be bottom of the list. The most important thing would be to ensure you are getting a quality hub, then it's down to the finish. I've got chrome rims from Quality Chrome and they are as the same suggest, very good quality, ...

Quality Chrome sell Uni hubs finished in show chrome, £120. Otherwise buy a hub and send it to Camcoat who do cermakrome, basically a chrome effect ceramic paint

I use super unleaded given the choice, but this purely down to the fact that super unleaded is less likely to contain ethanol, most standard unleaded will have 5% ethanol in it
