Diegrinder or dremel and as tractorman says above the keyway ....thinest part and less likely to touch the crank taper .

Having done one myself, it's always interesting to see others , and how they have overcome the problems/issues with these conversions

Ollie ive added you to a FB group "Lambretta Tuning" if you look 7 or 8 posts down re testing pulse coils/ pick ups . Anthony Tambs is the guy to speak to . Hes just rebuilt a stator for me , new pick up, lt coil , re cabled , and all re soldered . and converted to DC ....... I could do it...
