Casa vs. Scootopia

Casa 185 v2 vs. Scootopia 185 - Can anyone that has built either of these (or both!) please tell me what the compression ratios are? The Casa 185 v1 (pre-2015) has a geometric compression of 10.8:1 with a 1.1mm squish clearance. The volume of the combustion chamber with the piston at TDC is 19ml and...

AC or DC?
Not entirely sure to be honest.
Is it battery operated (DC) or not (AC)?

Re: LI125 With Scootopia 185cc kit

I've found that its best to run a drill bit through the swing arm of Scootopia floats before fitting. This ensures it oscillates on the pin without any drag.

Re: Horn

AC or DC?

For DC, I like the new(er) Casa Series 3 and GP/dl horns. They look close to OEM and run fine on a 12v DC system. If you don't care about aesthetics then a generic motorcycle horn works fine.

Re: GT186: ideal cylinder cowling?

Does anyone make extended cylinder head nuts? Using the long BGM cylinder head nuts on a porcupine head there is a 14mm gap between top of nut and front of GP/dl cowling. I'd prefer not have to make up spacer.

GT186: ideal cylinder cowling?

Quick question for anyone running a GT186 with a 'standard' 58x107 crank. Is there anyway to avoid using a cylinder cowl spacer/packer? I've heard that Series 1 cylinder cowls are a good fit, but by my calculations it will need 3mm spacer/packer. What are others running? Looking for a combo that mak...

Re: Proposed engine build musings

Does anyone know specs on the ring peg position of the ts185 piston? The earlier TS185 piston can be used, if you're prepared to relocate the top ring peg. I've had it done before, and it's still going strong several thousand klicks later, but easier to just use the later 'ER' piston, which is iden...

Re: Proposed engine build musings

Without derailing your thread, I'd be interested in what 64mm, thin ring, 30mm compression height piston you plan on using? AFAIK there very few options for quality pistons that fit those specs, and why the TS185ER piston has been widely used for so long. Mugello 186cc with the 30mm compression heig...

Re: Thinking Aloud

OEM TV pistons have a substantial number of oversizes. I’ve seen Borgo oversizes as large as 63.6mm and have a Hepolite on the shelf that is 63.0mm. IMHO I’d explore this option on an original cylinder before looking into the TS185ER pistons.
