Difficult to say from your description. You say the scoot is standard? If it were a 12v conversion, I would suspect the cdi.
Alternatively it could be a jetting issue.

Re: Li150 - PHBL Carb Tuning - Ruling Out Air Leaks, etc.
The last time I responded on your issue, I suggested the problem was' jetting' You've reported back that it was a choke problem (unexplained) which vindicates my suggestion, as 'jetting' includes choke operation. IMHO This time; the issue you describe is too lean (eg. too much air) at idle. Not nece...

Vespa 180 Rally
Hi all. I'm really a Lambretta man but I have been offered a 180 Rally. It was restored around 20 years ago and has hardly ever been used. Registered to the guy who bought it dealer restored twenty years ago. Going by the photo I have, it's still pristine. What sort of money would this attract ? Tha...

Re: Li150 - new carb - won't start
Sounds like jetting to me. Set the scooter up as you intend to use it. i.e. running through the airbox or running open-mouthed, whichever you choose. Change the pilot jet size until it starts easily (don't worry about revving cleanly through the range at this moment) If it starts but needs to stay o...

Assuming it needs the frame/body blasting/prepping and painting and the engine fully overhauling.

Re: Li150 starting troubles - fuel related?
It sounds like the choke is operating correctly. A 50 Pilot jet is quite big. I would put a 45 in it and see how that works, also reset the mixture screw. http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lambretta/float-needle-jetex/ They also have 45 and 48 pilot jets. http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lambrett...

Choke operating correctly?
What size pilot jet?
If you think the float bowl is overfilling. You may need a replacement needle valve (Red-tip) Check to see if it shuts off by holding the float up with the fuel turned on.
