as said above, could be anything.....another option is a clogged air filter, causing it to flood. clean the filter or leave it off (temporary) and see how it goes.

I've had my Avanti barrel re-sleeved with iron. I think Ron Moss will sell an un-plated barrel for less than the plated.....another option ?

If heat is a major consideration, have you considered the Avanti 225 ? Plug and play with enlarged barrel and head fins. Runs a lot cooler than standard.

I'm sure you can fill a V5 application form in without the reg' number.

If it's been registered in the UK before you should then get the V5 back with the reg' .

A lot of "performance" engines run at 17/16 static so if you aimed for that at 6000 revs it should be ok.

Could be timing. At 21* you may be retarding under 10*......maybe worth a strobe to check your timing at 6000 revs. Copied from CamLam: Timing when the stator is positioned fully advanced will give you around 21 to 22 degrees when the engine is not running (you cannot check this).
