Re: si carbs
It all depends if you want to keep the autolube or not. A 26, 28 or 30mm carb will all give the same top end speed on your set up. I am guessing yours already has a T5 4th gear. So at 65mph in 3rd it is doing about 8000 rpm. When you drop into 4th at this speed you are then at 6200 rpm on a T5 4th. ...

Re: si carbs
If you want to keep the autolube and not tune the engine, then a 26/26 is ideal. There is a limit and the 26/26 carb will only run well with a main jet up to 145. If you are planning to tune it you might as well save your money and get a 30mm carb instead.

Re: Vespa Reed Valve Fuel Pump
Above or below the reeds makes little differance. Between the carb and the reed block will be fine. The vac pipe will make a little turbulance in the manifold but nothing like as much as the reeds make! Looks like you have been pretty busy. What other tuning have you done? port durations? Compressio...

Re: Vespa Reed Valve Fuel Pump
If you have the Dellorto vac pump, the same as mine, it pumps way more than you need. So, connect the pump outlet back to the pump inlet with a smaller bore pipe (or restrictor tube or jbilee clip) and make a recycle line. When you get it running you can adjust the restrictor by test flowing it into...

Re: Vespa Reed Valve Fuel Pump
Make sure you fit a smaller bore bypass line on the pump to drop the pressure and you won't need a header. You can also fit the pump vac line above or below the reeds, doesn't really make any differance for what you need.

Re: Vespa Tuning Project.....
Dan, Well done with the torque increase exactly where you need it! What are your final port durations? And what about the jetting set up of your VHSH? On my VHSH30CS I realised it wasn't running richer no matter how big the main jet, the DQ268 and K21 needle were not opening far enough at WOT. I had...

Re: drt 24/24 carb
I would've thought that the main jet will still only flow according to it's size no matter how much fuel is in the bowl? True but if the restriction was the feeder hole, then you might need a smaller main :ugeek: The flow through the main jet will be affected if the float bowl level is changed. The...

Re: p2 clutchside oil seal
I like the baloon on the breather idea, I have never tried it but I will next time as a quick check :) The only way to check the seal condition is to do a crankcase pressure test. Although this is American it still explains it better that I could http://www.how-to-diy.org/4s7X1FiXCN2uSy/Pressure-Tes...

Re: P2 gearbox in a T5 ???
The squish should certainly be far less than 1.3mm. This is the number for a standard 210. For a 177 and something a bit special it should be much less. Aim for 0.6mm or very slightly more. It wont increase the compression enough to worry about. If you don't already have head locating sleeves betwee...
