Re: rd400 rod with suzuki ts 250 piston
Yes the top hat brim sits next to the SE bearing. No, once fitted they should not be removed for two reasons, 1. it is a light press fit 2. the final bore is honed concentric once the bushes are fitted (once they are removed this alignment can not be repeated to the same degree). I made them from br...

Re: GT Kit Jetting
I'm affraid it is not possible to magically go to the machine shop and order up 40% squish band just like that. The vast majority of heads are all mild modifications of a standard Lambretta head because this is what is economicaly available to all. If you did machine a head with 40% squish band or m...

Re: rd400 rod with suzuki ts 250 piston
You can use a TS250 piston with an RD400 rod if you sleeve the wrist pin hole to 16mm. I made a few nice "top hat" bushes (David Blythe has them now) to convert Wiseco RM250 pistons and they work perfectly. The old issue with bushes was typically they were prone to moving in the piston. Th...

Re: R1 Shock Snapped !
Bad news guys. The absolute minimum bore size you can get away with is 24mm. I'd prefer 25 but you could squeeze 24mm at a real push. The bottom bush nails the job because both joints must have the same movement. Is it possible to bore the bottom bush? is there enough meat on it? I did some CAd mode...

Re: R1 Shock Snapped !
My appologies, I was too lazy to read the entire thread but after seeing one of these R1 set ups at Stuart Owens it was the first thing that occured to me. Clearly there are a couple of others who are on the same train of thought. If a rubber joint is not possible the only other option is a split ro...

Re: My RI Shock snapped tonight
You might want to consider that this metal fatigue failure is not down to the mounting bushes but actually more to do with the engine mountings. The Lambretta engine rotates not only around the engine mount bar but also side to side as the engine twists over uneven surfaces and during acceleration a...

Re: clutch woe`s
Your engine is totally basic, with the best will in the world it won't be making more than 10BHP. A standard 4 plate clutch and springs will be fine up to about 13BHP. The slipping has nothing to do with the friction plate material or spring strength. I would but money that the pressure plate is bin...

Re: clutch woe`s
What is the engine set up, kit pipe? expected or known power? What is the clutch setup/parts used etc, how long has it lasted since build (was it a professional or home build?), are the cables new? Is it adjusted properly? Did the clutch drag previously and the cable been tightened to stop the drag?

Re: Which clutch set up
It would break the bank but the GT 7 plate clutch set up is extremely light, fits without any packers and all the parts come from one place in one assembly. You can down load the 3D CAD model and build manual from www.granturismo.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk It has an ultra precise release point and is ligh...
