Re: 81 link chain with split link

Endless, or nothing. With the RPM's my engine does and the way I ride, I would never trust a split chain.

Re: Genuine plugs.

I always get mine at a local motorbike shop or moto parts shop. Never online. They must be genuine, as I've had the plug (B9ES) in there for over a year and haven't had to remove it yet.

Re: Tassinari reed valve petals.

Worb5 carries spare VForce 3 and VForce 4 petals. Scooter Center does, too. Or you could source them locally from a quad parts distributer. Yamaha Banshees have RZ350 (RD350LC) engines. You'll probably have to buy the petals in sets of two, though, but then it's not a bad idea to carry spare petals.

Re: Rear Brake switch

When your brake switch stops working it may not be broken. Mine went, and seeing as I had no spare, I used electrical contact cleaner to clean it, in situ on the bike, and made sure I got the stuff in and around the activation button while pressing it in and out. It now works just like new.

Re: double shimming

With my 40 year old plus shopping bike putting out around 30 hp, I'd want to build mine as close to MotoGP spec as possible. It's not 200 hp so I doubt it would need 6 builds a year.

Re: scooter vibrating

Could also be the endplate roller bearing. Mine went and made the engine vibrate at low rpms unless the clutch was pulled in.

Re: Scootrs outboard disc EBC pads?

FA086 looks about right on Google Images. You're certain these are the correct ones, Tom? Brakes as commodity makes them easy to source once you know what to ask for (because most bike parts counters can only find parts by make, model and year). Here is a list of all the bikes and scooters for which...

Re: Badge adhesive

I used an epoxy resin that I had to mix with a hardener. I put that around the tines from the back of the legshield after I had fitted the badge, then lightly clamped the badge in place. It worked, looks great and the badge is still in place.

Re: lifespan of powder coat?

My GP200 was built by Taffspeed. The forks, hubs, fuel tanks and cooling shrouds are powder coated and the rest painted by Pete Merchant. I don't know who did the powdercoating but it still looks the same as when it was new 14 years ago, with the exception of a scratch on the front right fork leg wh...
