I have exactly the same problem as you and thanks to the foto I think it must be the crownwheel. I have the same crownwheel (I think ) which is a MBD and the only solution that I can think of is to drop the front sprocket 1 tooth.

twist and go front wheel
I've seen a few Lambrettas recently with twist and go front wheels and disk brakes. What bike are they off and do they need a lot of work to make them fit.

Pick up
Can anyone tell me how to test the pick up on a stator, I have 4 stators and none of the buggers work. Before I go out and buy more pick ups and set about soldering I would like to check to see if that is the problema. No point trying to fix something that aint broke

Re: Is it posible to fix a Varitronic
I went to the Garage today and 1 of the good magnets just popped out. The other didnt want to know so I heated it and that also popped out. Re: 58mm or 60mm Crank Pro's and Cons?
Against is that the big end touches the engine block so you need to get it machined also you need to have the mouth of the block touched up in places where the rod touches.

Re: Piston bottoming out
Hopefully after shortening the piston skirt there wont be a next time. It´s easier and safer with a 58mm
