Doing 60 mpg on a TS1 225 with BGM boxpipe version 3

Riding home at 60mph, slowed down to take turn off dual carriageway and looked behind me and thought scooter on fire. When stopped and looked down again see the orange sparks but still managed to ride the further 3 miles home ok. Any ideas what it might be ? Not had that before

Must confess it does clear after I get going. Before I do a full strip down, what tests can I do folks ?

Thanks for response........Sorry could not edit the above posts, but I normally associate a blown drive side seal with clouds of white smoke and no gearbox oil, or very little.

Is it prudent to stick a cloth over the exhaust see if it cut out, or would that cause a good seal to blow ?

Would that not empty out the gearbox though over
say 200miles ?

Guys any idea what a black sooty oily smoke from my clubman might be caused by ? Running a TS 1 at 3% oil ?

Just floating this. Have a Series 1 and want to do a small block kit build, what's the thoughts on current technology and good for purpose. Prefer a touring set up. Any thoughts appreciated ....

Built 6 ....186 cc Mugellos over the past 2 years and must confess as good as a TS1 on a small block, plenty of power through the range and seem bulletproof. We have just finished a 186 Casa to see how that runs. TBH there's too much choice now out there and i guess within the next 2 years small blo...

Hows the exhaust running ? and are you running open mouthed carb under panels with standard TS inlet ?
