Re: Extra Black wire on Indian stator???

For some reason a lot of SIL stators will have 2 ground wires, one white and one black. You can choose to connect it to your regulator ground if you like or frame ground. As long as your standard ground points are good it's just extra. If your frame is powder coated or otherwise has poor ground poin...

Re: coating exhausts

I've had lots of exhausts ceramic coated (not by the shop you listed) and for me it's what should be done to all of them. Diffrent colors have diffrent heat ranges so keep that in mind when having an exhaust coated. Once done check for little polishing beads that find their way in to all the tight s...

Re: Varitronic DC Advise...

On a stock dc loom it would be a little weird but basically you just need to send the regulated AC feed to your headlight (through the key and or high/low switch). The rest of the lights tie in to the dc trickle out of the regulator which ties to the battery and is controlled by a switch. What kind ...

Re: indian gp frame numbers.

That's exactly like mine in the US, but these were grey market bikes here.

S*22/4 * 36*00####*

Turning fender, fiberglass rear fender, no rear frame SIL badge, late forks, turn signals.

Good to see SIL kept the tradition alive of vague numbering schemes and changes with out documentation.

Re: Casa Lambretta Direct drive system

Isn't this a copy of a bodge that made the rounds a few years back? Something out of Vietnam or India?

I can't imagine the center post of the middle gear would be very strong given how thin the case is in that area.

Re: Piston to bore clearance

I've suffered from heat seizures for feckin' years. My carb has been set up perfectly. Examples; on this b/h Monday I took a 25 mile motorway ride in glorious sunshine and warm weather and it ran like a dream. Today I got on the motorway in colder temperatures and nipped up after four miles! Work t...

Re: Cyclone box with drops.

From what I've read 1st and 5th are in the same spot as 1st and 4th. The gears are thinner so the overall travel on the bar end remains the same, just smaller movement between gears. Make sense?

Re: how to adjust a clutch

To me it sounds like it's disengaging too late and burning up the plates in the process. What works for me is the standard 1-2mm play at the handlebar lever, that usually gets a full disengage at about 3/4 pull (6 plate fox hat set up, and standard clutch). Never had to run super hard springs or cen...
