Re: Is there a reason why this happened and can i prevent it

Maybe the plug cap is a wear part in the same way as a cruciform is. The cap does alot of heating up and cooling down and maybe hitting potholes along with the heat takes it's toll. Have had a loose exhaust bolt once. It cut a nice tread in the tyre!

Re: best exhaust for px125

dunno like, just got a brand new 70 quid sito plus for my T5 172 , great pipe for 2"s up touring, far from extinct. ive replaced a sito plus on my 172 t5 with the sip road and it gives a better power band and much quieter. im not saying sito plus dont work but compared back to back the sip roa...

Re: Malossi Polini swap?

Sounds perfect. I'm shocked it runs ok with only a 125 main jet. It wasn't enough in my brother's polini iron barrel/grand sport/jl but it just goes to show that not every scooter runs well on the same set up, each individual case is different. Enjoy the miles!

Re: Vespa PX200 Top Speed

My brother bought his px200 new in 2003 . After the cushdrive failed we realised his scooter was fitted with a 125 primary . Is there a chance yours is the same ? We were always shocked reading about p200's struggling with 4th gear when his would rev out easily but only doing 60ish mph !

Re: more cool air

Sounds a good idea to me . I'd never have thought of it . I doubt there'd be a huge difference in any intake method but I'm definately interested in the result . Another benefit might be some extra storage under the seat for wetgear or whatever after a small bit of cutting . It would be a great spot...

Re: HELP needed, t5 engine bogging

Have you a standard pipe you could try ? I've never tried a sterling exhaust but have tried a few others......in my experience standard T5's never work great with performance pipes . They just make an already narrow powerband even narrower ! Soulboy is on the mark with the airscrew but you could exp...

Re: 172 transfers

my 172 is 7 years old and the transfers matched well, and ime still on the original rings? got me wondering if i need to change the rings but scoots still running well any thoughts. I'm no expert but on my 172 it gets harder to start when the miles creep up past 3000 miles ish . My speedo has eaten...

Re: 172 transfers

Thanks ducksta for the quick reply . In fairness , I think the T5 must be the only engine where the transfers in the casing are larger than those on a malossi barrel . They aren't much bigger but there's a difference all the same . I think it must be a cooling thing where the fresh charge splashes t...

Re: catastrophic....

I had the same thing happen to my 172 on the way back from the Norway vespa world day . I decoked my scooter 3 weeks before going on the journey and changed the rings too just to be on the safe side . It ran perfect on the outward journey but returning on the M25 I had meltdown . Luckily I was trave...

172 transfers

I've a spare T5 engine on the workbench and a malossi 172 kit ready to fit . I'm wondering has anyone matched the barrel transfers to the casing ? Does it give any noticeable power increase and nearly more importantly , would such work silence the malossi rattle ? The other thing I'm tempted to do i...
